Winning isn’t Always Satisfying

We all love winning! We all want to be the best. We want to be picked up like the best strawberry in the field and shown to the world. We learn the sweetness of winning when we in a game of some kind. We learn what competition means at school. Some people are very competitive some aren’t at all. I don’t know why some go over board to be always the first and the best.

Maybe it’s because of the “conditioning” at school. If one wins gets rewarded with presents. Winning something is great. Why? I have never won anything at school although I have always wanted to be the best at whatever I was doing. The only thing I have ever won was when I got picked up at work for a great performance at work.

I won an amazing sound system and some tickets for wine tasting. It felt great to be a winner in a massive organisation. However, the prize was irrelevant to me because I couldn’t use sound system myself. I lived in a tiny single room. I gave it to a friend of mine who loved it. It felt great. Sometimes winning isn’t about the presents.

When my husband and I play a tennis game we both love wining a point. It feels great to win a point. It feels like I accomplished something when I win a point. Winning becomes a cherished prize. What’s fascinating is when I lose a point I don’t dwell on it for long and when I win I don’t dwell on it for too long either.

The emotion of winning and losing a point the lasting effect of the emotion is the same. The difference between the two is different end of the emotion spectrum happy — unhappy; disappointment — joy and so on. I can feel so quickly either an emotion of joy or complete disappointment. I can feel these emotions so quickly and then move on because there’s more to experience — it’s fascinating.

We have won and lost arguments with either your partner or family members. Winning an argument is not the same as winning in a competition or on a tennis court. Arguments are disagreements between people and who’s right and wrong often varies on circumstances. I am not into winning an argument I am into peace and love.

Anything that can be solved without an argument is the best. Sometimes people get blinded with being right and that in itself is a cause of an argument. Different types of winning teaches us something. To achieve a winning goal in tennis one is required to put hard work, concentrate and be fast on the feet.

Sometimes winning an argument is simply letting another person win. Winning in a job is a learning hard work pays off. I love the winning in the tennis court and win a game against my husband. What’s great is I learn emotions are the choice I make. I choose to feel sad or happy because of that one ball.

I am in charge of how I feel. The best learning from any type of winning is learning I am in control of my emotions. Any other types of winning doesn’t interest me that much. After all it’s not about winning in life it’s about love and joy we create. I wish there were more love, joy and peace in the world and the families.
