What does Matter in the Time of the Pandemic?
Another day has come in the quiet world where everyone has to be at home. Influencers must be going crazy by now…not being able to do their nails, eyelashes and another boost of botox for their lips. This virus have crushed them. Anything that comes from luck is not worth owning anyway. What happens now to all the influencers?
What happens to their designer clothes, shoes, nails, hair curlers and extensions…? Suddenly none of this matters when so much death around. I don’t know maybe it still does…? I’ve recently read a great article in The Guardian. It really shows real truth about the celebrity and influencer culture which right now mean absolutely nothing.
It’s exactly the same with the armies; the countries that have big armies mean nothing. They cannot fight the virus with guns and violence. Doesn’t this beg a question, though, what’s the purpose of the fame and money? What can money do if you have a virus? You cannot even get a better care because the hospitals are full. I’ve always known money will never buy you health.
If we were in a better circumstance one could argue you could buy a better health care but you cannot buy health. So what good does it to you the pile of cash when you are sick with this virus god forbid? Same with followers what good does it do to you have thousands or millions of followers right now? What value does it give you now?
One could argue they have higher engagement and support each other. Maybe. However, if you are the influencer of designer clothes what support can you get from people who are interested in fashion? José Mujica ex president of Uruguay (2010–2015) has an amazing story. There’s a fascinating documentary of him on Netflix right now called Pepe. He is an inspiring man.
He gives most of his earnings to the poor, he builds homes to those who needed it the most. The poor have somewhere to stay while this pandemic is on. That’s a real value and not where you can get your nails or hair done. None of it matters anymore. It’s about how people live now. How people survive this virus which the whole world is affected by it.
Maybe we can all take stock and evaluate our lives…? Think what we can give without asking for anything back. What can we give? How can we give? I’d like all celebrities and influencers to think of giving the real value to the society not just their clothes, shoes and make up. This virus has hit so many people so hard already.
People lost jobs, some are worried about losing their homes because they cannot pay the mortgage. Life as we know it it’s no longer here. We should consider how we can all be kinder to each other and help more one another. Who are the survivors of this virus? It’s not about people catching the virus and surviving it or dying. We are all going to die one day.
The survivors are those who can learn from this disaster and understand what matters in life. It’s not about how much money you have or how many followers you’ve got. It’s always about what value do you bring to the world. What are your actions that bring value, help others and how you as a human being can impact the world however small.
In the meantime, I leave with this.. Love and light to all of you.
