Real Friendships are Full of Unconditional Love
I grew up with my best friend. We were inseparable. My cousin and I are the same age. What interests me interested her. We were competing against each other who will read more books in the summer. When we were growing up we didn’t have the big thing called internet and it was fun. Because we didn’t know what internet could do for us then.
We used to ride our bikes to the lake, eat ice-cream in the town and dream big. The childhood and teenage years were simply magical. We had each other. We were each other’s rocks. We did everything together. I mean everything together. All school holidays together, summer holidays involved us travelling to somewhere beautiful by the sea. It was the best part of the summer. The sea, the books and us together.
Then we grew up. Life changed and so did we. We found other friends. We moved on. Friends we met at University; friends we met at work; friends we met at events we went to; friends we met through other friends and so on. I started travelling and living abroad. Suddenly the whole world became a lot more smaller. I have friends from Czech Republic, Slovakia, South Africa, New Zealand, Italy, Iceland, Sicily, Spain and so on.
Friends from boarding school became friends for life. I often end up watching peoples lives on social media. It’s not the same as picking up a phone but…
