How to Turn an Idea into a Business without an Investment

Do it!
Most people dream about what they are going to do. Most people will have discussions with their friends, colleagues, partners and so on. This conversation is part of almost every social occasion. But, an idea always stays an idea. It never actually becomes a business or even a failed business. Why?
Because we build problems rather than doing something we want.
What’s fascinating to me is we live in an age where anyone can create a business; anyone can come up with anything they want to do and make money. We live in an age where we are bombarded with messages of ‘become a millionaire in 3 months’ or ‘Earn cash easily’. We become obsessed in getting things fast.
When we don’t get the results we want in 3 months, we then go to a coaching programmes, where they teach you how to get your ROI (return on investment). We end up in a vicious circle of chasing a dream business and never actually doing a business. We then think we need something in order to create what we want.
We all have access to knowledge. We have the means to create an idea into a business! If you’ve got a laptop you’ve got a means! In the old days (not so long ago) people would just start selling stuff in the markets without having anything apart from a product. All you need to do in order to create a business is start doing it.
If you’ve got a viable business idea why isn’t it out there? I often hear an answer “I need developers to do my app” or “I need an investment” or “I am just preparing for my pitch now and then think of a company later” and so on. This all sounds like an excuse to me not to create your idea into a business. Since when do we need something else to create an idea into a business?
I have worked for a tech start-up. In a start-up I was taught to believe we need money to create a better tech product. However, shouldn’t we develop a great product to start with so the next developing stage covers what we’ve sold? If you are smart you will cover your costs by your own products and create growth. Why would you ask for an investment?
I understand people want to expand. Why you want to expand so quickly? Everything good takes time so does the great idea you’ve got. We need to learn to appreciate that good things take time. I am currently building my own business. I never once thought I need an investment. I never once thought I need something first so I can do my business.
How do all the businesses start? Look at Steve Jobs, he wasn’t thinking of what he needs to do before he gets his business running. He did things. He failed. He succeeded. However, he didn’t think he needs somebody to invest in him first. He created something first for anyone to consider investing. The secret is to make one idea a success.
We are brainwashed to believe we need something first before we do what we want. It’s wrong to think this way. It’s not even close to being true!
You have everything you need to create your business.
You have to decide that you make the right decisions. You know what to do. You don’t need some fat rich bastard to fund your ideas so he can take the money out of you and dictate the terms on how to run your own business.
We are brainwashed to believe that we need an investor to run a business. You don’t need one! Many great companies started in a garage or bedroom. Start small. Start with what you know and grow from there. Take one idea and make it work. Take one great area in which you are an expert and sell it. Make money out of it and build on it.
It’s all about patience and resilience!
Money make money. It’s easy once you start. The ball keeps rolling and you have all the control. If you need help with a website ask your friends! They’ll do it for you for free. You need a developer and you don’t have friend developers go to networking events. Make friends. They’ll do it for you for nothing.
In this day an age when everything is available you’ve got to be smarter. You’ve got learn you can make your idea into a reality without other peoples’ money. You’ve got to learn how to operate. No-one teaches this. I’ve studied masters in Marketing and all they teach you is strategies to get money. No-one ever teaches you to become creative.
They all want innovative ideas for nothing.
Why would anyone ever want to sell a great idea for nothing? When you start something ideas are cheap. It’s only when you create an idea into a business it brings value. The investor world is made like that. Facebook started without money only later it got pumped up with money. A great business idea requires simple things such as, dedication, determination and creativity.
If you combine all of these you will find you don’t need money from any type of investor. All you need is your time and dedication. The money will always follow afterwards. That’s not to say ‘oh I’ve got an idea’, ‘I started something up and now I am waiting for money’. No! You’ve got to work your pants off to get where you want to be. You’ve got to be focused and determined.
Anything is possible you’ve just got to be smarter on how to get what you want. It is possible to turn an idea into an amazing business without an investor. You can do it. Anyone can! All it takes is a bit of creativity and be smart enough not to follow the crowds.
