How Safe is to Travel in Coronavirus Time?

When and where to Travel right now…

In the time of the Coronavirus it’s difficult to know what to do when it comes to travel. My husband and I debated a long while before we got on a plane from Malaga to Edinburgh.

We debated. We had a few family commitments. We were scared to get the virus. We didn’t have the luxury to choose an airline we’d like to fly with either. Ryanair has never been our choice. Ever!

I won’t lie we were scared but plucked up the courage and we got on the plane. The airport was empty. The plane wasn’t full. We had plenty of space and plenty of seats to choose where to sit. You could say that was a little luxury. We didn’t get up once from the seat. Not that it mattered.

I didn’t want to walk around and touch things. I just wanted to land as soon as we could and get away from the plane. We were wearing masks throughout the entire flight. The people around us wore the masks too.

If there were people not wearing masks I didn’t see it. However, it’s compulsory to wear masks on the planes right now.

On the way back, the flight from Edinburgh to Malaga was even emptier. The UK has issued a requirement anyone arriving from Spain will have to quarantine for 14 days. Most people cancelled their holiday plans as a result.

The airport, the security and the plane were empty. I have never ever seen an airport so empty. It was the record time to get through the security. There were no people.

Many shops are closed in Edinburgh airport. I didn’t see it in Malaga because we were late. We nearly missed our flight. The only thing I saw was how empty the whole place was in Malaga.

The airports and the planes are deserted. Is it safe to travel right now?

I say yes.

Because there’s barely anyone on the flights in the airports and security. We felt safe. In Spain, people respect the rules of wearing masks more than in the UK. Because of that, I also felt saver being in Spain than in the UK.

Those who travel do take care and wear masks from what I’ve seen so far. We have only been on two flights. I saw someone posted on social media people not wearing masks on the plane. It was Wizz airline flying from Luton airport to Bulgaria. Maybe Wizz airline is worse than Ryanair…?

There’s a huge thing in the UK, people don’t believe in the virus and they don’t seem to care to wear masks. In Spain, people have to wear a mask if they don’t they will have to pay a fine on the spot.

I say travel right now is safe. However, there’s a talk of a second wave of this virus coming up. The summer holiday may have been ruined for a few people as a result. Some businesses will go out or have gone out of business already.

This virus is not a joke and those who don’t believe they are not good in their heads. The current advice is only essential travel. I’d stick with that advice. If you do have to travel - it’s safe! Take all precautions and stay safe.
